Fees

The first thing I want to say is that, if I could, I would be your therapist for free. That’s how much I love doing this. Unfortunately, I can’t work for free, so I usually charge $100 to $150 per hour, depending on what you can afford.

My work is provided on a fee-for-service basis, which means that unless we make specific arrangements for billing, you pay for each session, preferably at the beginning of the session, but before you leave.

I work on a sliding scale, and try to be reasonable in balancing your financial pressures with mine. Whatever fee we decide on, I want you to value the work we do together enough to pay what you can afford and what it is worth to you. Keep in mind that when you pay a fair fee you are more likely to work hard in the sessions to achieve your goals.

Credit Cards

I accept all major credit and debit cards – American Express, Discover, Master Card, Visa, as well as flexible spending and health savings account cards.

Insurance

I accept most insurance PPO plans, so, if you have behavioral or mental health coverage and want to use it, please bring your insurance card to the first session.

Confidentiality:

On the other hand …You might want to consider the downside of using insurance coverage for therapy or counseling:
While I do my utmost to protect your confidentiality, if you ask your insurance company to pay my fee, they will require a psychiatric diagnosis and information about the nature of your therapy, including family history, symptoms and behaviors. In addition, insurance companies will decide how often and what kind of therapy you should have.
